How to get Twitter Updates to Be Status on a FaceBook Public Fan Page Live Feed

Since the beginning of this year, I have been on a constant quest for the perfect Twitter application. I knew exactly what I wanted and exactly what I required this application to do.  I searched Goggle looking for answers.  I watched to see if others wanted the same thing. I spoke to sales guys at conferences to see if their Twitter tools came close to what I wanted it to do.  I combed InsideFacebook and All Facebook wanting this app.

I couldn’t find it.

All I wanted was either a Facebook application or Twitter tool that would allow me to use a company Twitter stream to update the wall feed on a client’s fan page that is built through my personal Facebook account. (more…)

Rising Click Fraud, Cuil, New Twitter Song & a Paid Search Rap

PPC Buzz of the Week – Friday 8/28/09..

Paid Search Rap Flow… Yo!

Years ago if you would have asked the creators of “Pay per Click” if they think that PPC would expand into the rap industry, I’m sure they would say no; however, today there now exists the “Paid Search 101 Rap.” Check out the video here.

It’s the Twitter Song

In addition to that new Paid Search 101 Rap, we’ve also been given the opportunity to be blessed with a complete song about Twitter. Yes folks, there is now a Twitter song! Wonder how much this guy’s getting paid for the record. Makes you wonder right? Check out the video

computer_thiefBe Aware of Click Fraud!

Believe it or not, but it does exist and is growing more and more each day. Since 2008, researchers have estimated that $1.6 billion were lost to click fraud. Click fraud occurs when a person or script clicks on ads in order to generate revenue or to damage advertisers while having no interest in the product being promoted. This is done for many reasons including web surfers trying to support charities by clicking on their ads, internet advertisers wanting to cause financial harm to competitors, or even the product owner clicking on the ad to drive up their own revenue. As the PPC Marketer, you can minimize click fraud against your account by keeping an eye on all of your clicks and conversions, setting up a daily click limit and constantly monitoring your click-through rates.

Ever Heard Of Cuil?

cuil3Cuil is a new search engine that has received critical press coverage regarding its claim to providing the world’s largest search engine index. The search engine boasts an index of 120 billion web pages; however, there have been complaints of irrelevant search results and slow response times. After searching various topics on Cuil.com, I noticed that the response time is pretty quick; however, the results are quite irrelevant. Check it out for yourself by clicking here.

Until next week…Keep on Searching!

Wondering How To Grow A Beard? STOP SHAVING.

The Story Of My Quest For World Beard And Moustache Championship Glory

We were talking in the office yesterday about viral campaigns on the Internet. So, at first I was going to post about the concept of things “going viral” on the world’s widest web. Then, I thought…why not write a blog about beards.

Growing A Beard Is Cool. I Have A Beard. Therefore, I Am Cool

Beards are awesome. For example, I have a beard. Most of the bearded folks I know are pretty cool. And even for every crazy beardo out there, there’s a wholesome better half. For every Chuck Manson, there’s a Chuck Norris.

The point is, I’m thinking of going pro. The next World Beard and Moustache Championships are less than two years away and if I’m gonna go for it, I’m gonna go now.

PPC Buzz of the Week – Friday 8/21/09

Welcome PPC specialists, advertisers, enthusiasts, and blog readers. Each week, DragonSearch will be posting the PPC Buzz, a collection of hot topics around the PPC world that can aid in optimization, change the PPC game, or simply be interesting. So without further ado, let’s get to the PPC Buzz of the week!

Microhoo… Strategies to prepare you for the newly agreed Microsoft and Yahoo deal.

Microhoo

As we reported in our blog post Yahoo and Microsoft Agreement – It’s Impact on PPC, Microhoo as it’s being called will change the face of the paid search arena in the near future. With Bing’s search engine market share increasing and the integration of Yahoo paid search into Microsoft adCenter occurring in a little over a year, InhouseSEM.com has prepared 5 PPC Strategies to Prepare for Microhoo, which you can read here. There is no doubt these strategies can get you started in easing the inevitable transition of your Yahoo Sponsored Search campaigns into adCenter. I especially favor the idea of starting to pull Yahoo reports ASAP so you can gauge how the transition will affect your adCenter performance. I’m sure plenty more questions will arise once more information is known about exactly what will be occurring in this transition, but until then you should begin following these 5 basic strategies.

Medical Social Media- #BrokeArm;

Real Time Medical Updates

If you happen to be reading this blog post on  August 18th 2009:

I am, right now, having my broken humerus surgically repaired.

While I am not looking forward to having the actual surgery and the pain that shall go along with it, there is one aspect that I find rather appealing:

I’m covering my Arm Surgery live via Social Media!

Ok, so technically, I’m not going to be using social media because I will be unconscious, but my husband will be Tweeting and Twit-Pic-ing throughout my surgery. His Tweets will streamed live to both my blog and my Facebook status so that “my people” can know my surgery status and then I’ll take over updating once I am with the living again.

I figure if Katie Couric can let the world view her first colonoscopy on the air in 2000, then I can fully incorporate social media into every aspect of my life, even the yucky parts.   I know I have read articles discussing how other patients have used various forms of blogs and social media to update friends and family members while in the hospital or while living with an illness. They report that it’s easy to share the news that way, their families feel connected and it’s not as exhausting telling everyone the same story over and over again. Like this story that is a perfect example of a family using Twitter to update everyone on a father son kidney transplant.

Up For A Game Of Page Hunt?

August 12th, 2009 by admin

First there was Nintendo’s Duck Hunt featuring that oh so flattering orange gun and now there’s Bing’s Page Hunt.  Page Hunt is a game created by Microsoft that asks players to submit search queries that they feel the site presented to them would show up for in Bing search results.

Once the player has typed in a search query that would land the page within the top 5 results, points are scored and a new page pops up allowing the player to continue on to the next.  Oh and FYI, players get 3 minutes to get as many pages within the top 5 results as possible.  Some are extremely easy and others are impossible!

pagehunt-creatureNow, at this point one is probably questioning who exactly this “game” benefits.  Firstly, you the search marketing professional will be able to practice coming up with really good keywords (based on Bing’s standard of what a good keyword is) while affectively killing off time in between projects and deadlines.  Secondly, none other than the infamous Microsoft itself will be reaping the many benefits of this game.  How?  As more and more people play Page Hunt, Microsoft will be able to figure out what users are typing to land onto certain pages thus allowing the computer giant to identify trends and habits.  As described by its creators, it’s a way of improving search engines by using human computation games.

I must say that when I first heard about Page Hunt, my initial reaction was “are you serious?”  Sadly, I played Page Hunt and could not stop.  My keyword creation skills have improved dramatically and my overall PPC walk with the PPC gods is stronger than ever!  Ok maybe not but seriously; if you’re ever browsing the net and you say to yourself, “self, I’m in the mood for a game that helps me come up with better keywords today,” then click on the following link and you’re good to go: http://pagehunt.msrlivelabs.com/PlayPageHunt.aspx

August 4th, 2009 by Etela Ivkovic

The importance and power of implementing the SEO basics and its impact on a website’s overall health and performance is just like the importance and impact of basic healthy nutrition on our overall health.

Inspiration for this blog post came from reading an article in which the author stressed the importance of following the basics of healthy nutrition and healthy living: (more…)

Got Whuffie?

August 3rd, 2009 by admin

Social Capital is What We Really Want

What if I told you that one day money could be matched by a new form of currency?  Crazy you say.  Sounds like something out of a science fiction novel.  Actually that’s correct.  Cory Doctorow coined the term whuffie in a 2003 science fiction novel and marketing guru Tara Hunt uses this term as the title of her book called The Whuffie Factor.

“Whuffie is “social capital” that is lost or gained based on positive or negative actions, your contributions to the community and what people think of you”.

What is Social Capital?

Social capital, or whuffie, refers to the value and collaboration created through social networks and human relationships.  In this world where everyone wants whuffie in their wallets, the (more…)
